The
Williams FW41 chassis has been so bad so far that
Paddy Lowe has described what is happening with their car as a "phenomenon".
Paddy Lowe has had some seriously strong words regarding Williams' car at the moment.
The team's technical chief has described what's happening with their car as an aerodynamic "phenomenon".
Lance Stroll and Sergey Sirotkin are the men behind the wheel in Williams' two cars and they are still relatively inexperienced.
Williams' job is to provide them with a machine capable of letting the two drivers progress in their own way.
As it stands, the team can't provide a competent car in order to achieve the necessary performances or results.
Saturday's qualifying saw Stroll spin out of Q1 and he was out of the qualifying without even setting a time.
Sirotkin however, did manage to set a time, but was the slowest qualifier in 17th place.
Lowe spoke to the press after yesterday's qualifying:
"We have a phenomenon which we have not seen all year, or indeed ever before, whereby the DRS activation intermittenly causes a complete loss of aerodynamic floor loading which does not recover at the entry to the subsequent corner.
"In the case of both spins, the car entered the corner with no load in the floor which had obvious consequences.
"We came to this event with a number of new bodywork items which we evaluated during FP1 and FP2.
"The new DRS-related phenomenon was seen only once in FP1 on one of the cars but was incorrectly diagnosed to be related to a particular configuration which we chose not to carry forward into FP2 and for qualifying and the race."
