Eight-time world champion (6 MotoGP, 1 Moto2, 1 Moto3) Marc Marquez takes inspiration from his compatriot
Fernando Alonso in his quest to return to the top. Ahead of his race weekend in France, on his two truths one lie card, the Spaniard wrote "I have a plan", a catchphrase used by Alonso.
Marquez refers to Alonso
Back in 2021, after
Fernando Alonso returned to
Formula 1 with Alpine, the Spaniard often referred to "El Plan", meaning his desire to reach the top again and working each and every day towards it. The phrase was also even painted on the Alpine's rear wing during the final races of the 2021 season.
Marc Marquez has also found himself in a situation similar to Alonso. After leaving a struggling Honda team in 2023 (Alonso had his troubles with the Honda engine at
McLaren before), for this season, he has made a switch to ride a Ducati with Gresini Racing.
Similarly to other Spanish stars in sports, Marquez now wrote "I have a plan" himself, posted by MotoGP's Instagram. Previously, tennis star Carlos Alcaraz did the same, as he wrote '#33 soon?' on camera after winning a match.
