Without a shadow of a doubt,
Max Verstappen's performances have improved over the last few races. The podium in France was Red Bull's first back-to-back podium of the season.
The first part of the 2018 season featured plenty of incidents for the Dutchman to deal with. But since the Candian Grand Prix, Verstappen has been virtually incident free in a
Formula 1 car.
Marko said in an interview with Motorsport: "The problem was that Max put too much pressure on himself. Suddenly he made mistakes with a car he could drive in front, which he did not make last year when his car was far from so good,"
"We've been through all variations: how can we stabilise Max? It was more a coincidence than a programmed action that nobody was there in Montreal [Verstappen was without father and usual pit entourage]."
After the Monaco Grand Prix Christian Horner voiced his opinion about his Dutch driver suggesting that he pressed the reset button after costing the team 50-60 points.
But Marko stood by his driver when times got tough. Even though Max might be out of contention for this season's drivers championship, Helmut believes he will have a shot one day.
"The aggressiveness and the fighting spirit make him stand out," Marko added.
"That's why I always defended him. In Austria, he will be joined by 18,000 Dutchman - probably even more after second place in France."
