Helmut Marko sees Sebastian Vettel having a difficult season at Aston Martin. Whereas he switched to the Aston Martin team in 2021 to work his way up to the top teams in Formula 1, in 2022 he will have to fight his way into the top ten. This is no time for Vettel.
The four-time world champion had a very successful period with Red Bull Racing but has not managed to finish at the top of the world championship since. At Aston Martin, he doesn't seem to be comfortable in his own skin and that makes his future highly uncertain.
Marko knows the driver like no other and knows how difficult Vettel finds it that he cannot compete with the bigger teams with his Aston Martin. It would therefore not surprise the advisor of the Austrian racing team if Vettel chooses to retire from motor racing at the end of the season.
According to Marko, it is important that Aston Martin manages to give him perspective quickly, as otherwise, the formation will lose him in 2023. "If he doesn't see a light at the end of this tunnel, then I assume that he will stop," Marko told RTL Deutschland.
