After a poor race in Australia with
Max Verstappen's DNF,
Red Bull Racing came back stronger than ever at the
Imola Grand Prix. The team grabbed its first one-two since 2016 and Verstappen managed to take home the maximum number of points.
Helmut Marko is optimistic about the future thanks to his drivers.
"We came up with the right answer after Melbourne. It went really well, more was not possible," Marko told
Sky Germany. After the race, the Red Bull advisor said that the team introduced the right updates in
Imola.
While Red Bull had its best weekend so far, things went completely wrong at
Ferrari.
Carlos Sainz dropped out immediately on the opening lap after a collision with
Daniel Ricciardo, while
Charles Leclerc spun in the closing stages of the race and threw away a podium finish.
Red Bull never gave up title hopes
After the
Australian Grand Prix, the gap between Verstappen and Leclerc in the drivers' championship was large. Yet Red Bull never gave up hope, but then again we are still early in the season. The team will have to keep working hard to stay ahead of
Ferrari.
"We never gave up hope of the title, but we are very close. Ferrari is strong and we have to keep working at full speed, but we have two very strong drivers. Perez is also getting stronger. So we are somewhat optimistic about the future", Marko says.
