It has now been a week since the death of Dietrich Mateschitz. Formula 1 has not yet returned from its trip to the United States and Mexico. But the question is whether Max Verstappen, Helmut Marko and Christian Horner will be in time for the funeral of the man behind Red Bull.

In Austria, the media are full of speculation about the funeral. In fact, nothing at all is known about it. There are rumours, writes Oe24, that Mateschitz has already been cremated in private. But there are also rumours that the stone-rich Mateschitz has made his body available to science. In any case, nothing is reported by Red Bull about a funeral.

No treatment

Mateschitz had been suffering from cancer for some time. He allegedly refused treatment, as well as hospitalisation. Even while he could afford the best doctors. His health declined visibly in recent weeks and he died last Saturday.

Red Bull Racing 's future is assured in a newly established foundation. However, Red Bull is still looking for a successor to Mateschitz. His son Mark would be the leading candidate for that. However, the Thai family, which owns 51 per cent of the shares, must give its consent. According to Austrian media, Mateschitz went to Thailand in the summer to reach an agreement on the matter. Whether that succeeded is unknown.
