Max Verstappen looks set to win any F1 race with his RB19. The Dutchman has waited a long time for such a dominant car, and when asked about how he now views the other drivers who have no chance of winning F1, the two-time F1 champion has advice.
Ahead of the British Grand Prix, Verstappen was asked what he thinks about the situations of other drivers, such as Lando Norris. Even when Verstappen did not have a dominant car, he could almost win at least one race every season. Norris, in his McLaren, has no prospects of winning at all. According to Verstappen, faith and loyalty are the keywords.
Responding to the question, Verstappen told the media present, including GPblog: "Unfortunately, that is also a bit how it is. I mean, if Lando would be in a race-winning car, he would win races. It's as simple as that. But yeah, sometimes you have to stick to the process, you believe in the process, and again, people can say, 'Yeah, we believe in it', but you really have to believe in it [...] I did trust our process around it. Of course, sometimes you are a bit sceptical; a new engine, a new partner, is this going to work out?"
Verstappen draws further comparisons with his own F1 career: "Of course, sometimes I had this thought of maybe, 'I should leave', but at the same time, in those years, I was also developing a lot as a driver, and you never forget who put you in Formula 1 in the first place, you also have to be loyal to that I find, and people sometimes say, 'The grass is greener on the other side', but most of the time it's not, and I think it's very important to remember these kinds of things in situations like that."
