One of the talking points in the
Formula 1 paddock during the Grand Prix weekend in Abu Dhabi was the happy news of
Max Verstappen and
Kelly Piquet. Speaking to
Alain Prost, a four-time world champion like Verstappen, the Dutchman explained whether he would prefer to have a boy or a girl.
Does Verstappen prefer a boy or a girl?
Speaking to Alain Prost on French Canal+, Verstappen is asked if he secretly hopes for a boy. To this, the Dutchman replies, "“Of course, but it’s fine. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter. Whenever it’s yours it’s always special”
Ahead of the final
F1 weekend of the season, Verstappen and Piquet jointly announced they were expecting their first child. Verstappen already let slip that he hopes his child does not have the ambition to become an
F1 driver, although he will support him or her if they do.
The Dutchman also joked about the number of penalty points on his licence, after he was given two more by the
FIA for his collision with
McLaren driver
Oscar Piastri. Verstappen said with a wink that maybe he should just make sure he has 12 by the time of the birth so he can go on paternity leave.
