McLaren were unable to compete with
Red Bull Racing,
Ferrari and Mercedes in the first half of the season. Although
Andreas Seidl is disappointed with the situation, he remains positive and expects the British team to fight back. He told us in conversation with
F1-Insider.com.
"The plan is always to build a car that is as fast in Monaco as it is in Silverstone or anywhere else," the team boss says. "But that's the point that still sets us apart from the top teams. Red Bull and Ferrari have cars that are ahead of everything. That is exactly why we are still behind them."
McLaren looking for the right way
Lando Norris is the best performing driver for
McLaren so far. The talented driver managed to score 76 points, which is 182 points less than
Max Verstappen who is the leader of the championship.
For
Daniel Ricciardo, the season has been even worse than his teammate. The Australian has still not found his feet at McLaren and managed to put only nineteen points to his name, leaving him well behind Norris.
However, Seidl is hopeful that McLaren will show better after the summer break. "I try to see everything positively and use all experiences, positive and negative, efficiently for the future. Even small setbacks can be positive," said the team leader.
