Red Bull Racing has been known for years for their lightning-fast pit stops. This season, too, the team of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez is sitting pretty, but so far one team stands out: McLaren.
The season so far has been anything but smooth for McLaren. The team only scored six points and is eighth in the world championship. Yet there is also good news for the team of Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo. The disappointing performance is certainly not due to the pit stops. As in Bahrain, McLaren also performed the fastest pit stop of the race in Saudi Arabia. Ricciardo's pit stop lasted 2.41 seconds. Norris' pit stop was also fast. With a time of 2.51 the second time of the race.
Red Bull, in recent years the absolute pit stop king of Formula 1, set the third (Perez) and fifth (Verstappen) pit stop times in Saudi Arabia. In the standings of the DHL Fastest Pitstop Red Bull is now third behind Ferrari. McLaren is well ahead of the two teams that seem to be competing for the world title this season and seems to be the new pit stop king of Formula 1 so far.
