Mercedes, Force India and
Williams will get their second power unit of the season this weekend. The 2018 regulations have restricted teams to use just three power units throughout the season.
Canada is one of most demanding circuits for engines with the long straights and the odd flat-out corner. It is also one-third of the way through the season so schedule-wise, it makes perfect sense according to Toto Wolff.
“Canada marks the one-third point of the 2018 season. After six races, we can see that we are in a stronger position in both Championships than we were 12 months ago,” said Toto Wolff.
“We expect a number of teams to take their scheduled second power units this weekend, including all the Mercedes-powered cars and we are pushing hard to bring more performance to the car as soon as possible.
“It will be a close-fought weekend - as it has been at every race so far this year.”
It’s unclear when the final set of power units will be delivered, but presumingly around Belgium and Italy in rounds 13 and 14 as these tracks also include high engine demand.
