Toto Wolff has confirmed he and his team would be happy to let Esteban Ocon move to Renault. The current Force India driver is in the Silver Arrows ranks, but rumours suggest he is moving back to Renault.
Wolff insisted that he would like the best for Ocon. And if that means leaving Mercedes, the German is happy to let it happen.
"With Valtteri and Lewis, we have a line-up that is stable, that works for us. And at that stage there is no opportunity within Mercedes," he told F1i.
"If he [Ocon] has an opportunity to somewhere else to be successful as a racing driver and another team or constructor to be successful with Esteban, we wouldn't want to stand in the way."
Ocon might find harder than it seems to walk out the exit door at Force India. The Pink Panthers operating officer Otmar Szafnauer isn't as happy to let him go.
"He’s got a contract with us. For him to go elsewhere we’d have to agree to that," he pointed out. "I mean, we can do whatever we want to do. It’s fine for him to go, but we have to agree to that," Szafnauer said.
