The proposed new Miami Grand Prix has come under new threat. Liberty media failed to meet a deadline with the City Commission which would have helped finalised a deal. Some 2019 race dates were revealed earlier today. The final date of the season was pushed back a week in anticipation for the Miami Grand Prix. F1 in 2019 will run into December for the first time since 1963.
The deal has been struck by lots of debate. Local residents are against the event which is what is believed to be the main delay.
If a deal is not made, it would be damaging for Liberty Media as they attempt to improve the sport. They intend to increase the number of races to around 25, hosting two in the states and two in China.
As we edge deeper into the 2018 season, time must be running out for Liberty Media to strike a deal.
