After the tragic passing of
Charlie Whiting prior to the Australian Grand Prix,
Michael Masi took over. The Australian has filled the role in every race this season, and now it seems as if he'll continue until the summer break.
RaceFans report that team bosses have been told Masi will stay in charge up to and including the Hungarian Grand Prix. It's not confirmed whether that will be his final race or not.
Masi received training for the role prior to Whiting's death. He was seen as the successor. Masi picked up experience as a deputy race director in some races across the
Formula 1 season.
