After a dramatic start in Bahrain, the
McLaren team seems to be performing better each weekend.
Lando Norris finished third in qualifying for the
Imola Grand Prix yesterday, despite his crash in Q3. On Saturday, the team managed to grab double points during the sprint race.
Although
McLaren cannot yet keep pace with
Ferrari and
Red Bull Racing, the team seems to have made great strides since the
Bahrain Grand Prix. There the team finished only fourteenth and fifteenth, but this weekend Norris and
Daniel Ricciardo were able to fight their way into the top ten during qualifying and the sprint race in
Imola.
"A tough Sprint! I just didn’t have the pace to keep up with the guys in front, but we got the best result we could today and a few points, so I'm happy," Norris told McLaren's official press release. The McLaren driver quickly dropped away from P3, but still managed to grab four points with a fifth-place finish
McLaren in a good position
There is still a lot of improvement to be made if McLaren wants to get involved in the battle for victories, but with a P5 and P6 for Sunday's race, it looks like the team can bring in some nice points. "We’ve got a good position for the race tomorrow, we can fight for some more points from P5. There’s a few things to try to work on and figure out tonight, apart from that, I'm happy," said the Brit.
