Lando Norris has had an impressive first half of his debut
Formula 1 season with the rookie helping his new team to best of the rest in the Constructors' Championship. Norris has admitted he feels very much at home at the
McLaren.
Norris arrived at the Woking-based outfit having come second in the 2018 Formula 2 season but has made the step up with ease as McLaren strengthen their grip on best of the rest. Norris has scored best finishes of sixth at the
Austrian and
Bahrain Grand Prix and sits tenth in the Drivers' Championship a respectable return for his debut season.
With his teammate
Carlos Sainz it is clear Norris is at ease at McLaren.
“When I look at where I am now, I clearly feel at home. At the same time, I think I would still have been so happy if I had joined last year. Perhaps not as satisfied as the team then performed slightly less, but in general it did," Norris told GrandPrix247.
"You still drive in Formula 1 at McLaren. That is enough to make us happy."
Coming through the ranks at McLaren the comparisons to
Lewis Hamilton were inevitable but Norris is trying to avoid them.
“He was of course driving at McLaren the moment races could be won by car, that is not the case now. So I don't look at it yet, but the situations are difficult to compare," he added on the subject.
