Lando Norris drove well in the sprint qualifying and finished fourth, behind his teammate
Daniel Ricciardo. The two
McLaren drivers seperate the two title rivals
Lewis Hamilton and pole sitter
Max Verstappen on the grid for the
Italian Grand Prix.
Norris, who started sprint qualifying on the soft tyres, got a promotion to P3 following
Valtteri Bottas' engine penalty. He speaks about a crucial tyre choice for the race on Sunday.
"From lap three [in the sprint], the medium were the better tyres. Mercedes and Red Bull are always confident with the medium so we chose the soft. We got to analyse today if we go with the soft and then the medium and hard as well," Norris told Sky Sports.
Daniel Ricciardo
The Australian moved to
McLaren over the winter and the F1 world hasn't seen an inform Ricciardo in 2021. But in Italy, Ricciardo seems to have got to grips with the McLaren car, and he therefore joins his British teammate at the front of the grid.
"From a constructor point of view, it's easier for me. We can use it strategically fighting those behind. He [Ricciardo] deserved it today, he's been driving well," Norris added.
