Lando Norris drove a quiet race during the
United States Grand Prix and had to let his teammate
Daniel Ricciardo beat him to the finish. The young Briton was strict with himself afterwards.
Norris calls himself an idiot
It wasn't Norris' race at COTA. The
McLaren driver is often a regular alongside
Max Verstappen and
Lewis Hamilton, but in Austin, it was a grey weekend.
After the race, Norris spoke to
Ziggo Sport and he was critical of himself:
"Ricciardo was able to get past one Ferrari, so that was good. I couldn't do it. And when I did, I didn't even defend. So I'm just an idiot."Ricciardo beats Norris to the punch
The youngster in the
McLaren team has been a lot stronger than his Australian teammate this season but clearly had to underperform him in America. Norris lost his fourth position in the championship to
Sergio Perez, but is still 44 points ahead of Ricciardo who is on P8.
Norris was disappointed: "Normally you race for a goal and you have something to chase. I didn't have that now. It's just bad work on my part."
