Sergio Perez says his
Force India team was "stuck on standby" prior to the take over from Lawerence Stroll. Perez, 28, initiated the administration process at the height of the summer. Since then, Racing Point have scored 43 points and are already in 7th place. Had their points not been wiped in Belgium, the Pink Panthers would have been comfortably fourth.
The buy-out kicked off a number of upgrades that were immediately placed on the car. In Spa, they qualified 3rd and 4th surprising the whole paddock. Since the takeover, Perez says it's been like joining a new team.
“When you see how the team is running now, operationally, and how things are going along, this is really a racing team,” Perez told Crash.net.
“We went through a very difficult period where everything was stuck on standby. Performance was the last thing that the team was worried about.
“It’s just amazing to see how well we’ve done during that time. We got a podium, we got so many great memories, so I’m very pleased with that.”
Perez sent the team into administration because he felt it would be the only way to help. He says he now feels pleased about how his risk paid off.
I’m happy with how everything turned out and the direction that the team has now. That gives me the happiness that I took the right decisions for everyone in the team," Perez concluded.
