Sergio Perez has put the moment with Max Verstappen in Brazil behind him. Indeed, according to Perez, Red Bull Racing is not just about the drivers.
In 2022, the relationship between Verstappen and Perez seemed to be dented at the Brazilian Grand Prix. There, Verstappen was asked to let ahead of his teammate, but the Dutchman had his own reasons for not doing so. Perez was furious. Peace was signed one race weekend later and, according to Perez, the battle is now behind him.
''It is important that we work and think as a team. As a team we have to maximise. It's not just about Max and me. It's about the team. There are so many people in the factory who give everything for us. I'm working very hard on my side with my engineers to make sure that we are able to, to go on to the next step,'' Perez told GPblog and others.
The moment is behind the Mexican and so, as said, the gaze can turn to 2023. Red Bull Racing is the top favourite for next season after winning two world titles in 2022, but Perez also sees the competition closing in.
''Mercedes was very competitive at the end of the season, as was Ferrari. I expect them to be there again,'' said the 33-year-old driver. Checo also expects the rest of the field to get closer. ''There are some midfield team that are making big steps over the winter. We'll see once we are in Bahrain," concluded the Mexican.
I see corrosive comments and anger. The truth is that RB must work for teamwork since Ferrari, Mercedes and some other team could put them in trouble if they let these two fight.
Let’s be real here for a moment. Checo is NOT going to beat Max. And, the drivers who can put up a fight (which he earlier acknowledged) are GR/LEC/NOR. Neither of which are leaving their teams. If Checo wants to be successful/drive a good car, and not be stuck driving on mediocre teams or bad cars, best to be a “team player” and support Max.
It's all about Max!
You don't have team orders with Max! .....Max is the best with any team mate.....He beat the guy with the Rocket ship remember in 2021 in turn 5 with a cramp in his leg...That's how easy it was!!
It is pretty easy when you have the RD throwing out the SC rule book to favour yourself and ONLY yourself. I mean even mazespin could've won a championship that way.
You could see lewis did a mazespin last year with no wins....So it was the Rocket ship that gave lewis 6 titles.........
I would rather have a "rocketship" give me titles than a RD fixing a race in your favour Infront of the watching world.
The jokes on you chap !
Keep liking your own post chap you've nearly hit 40k ?
What's worse is your employee disobeying a direct order on multiple occasions just because he thinks he's "better", in other words a spoiled little brat !!!
There nothing worse than having a young teammate beat you for the world to see and no wins....What a joke!
Nah that was max misjudging his aggression into copse and he came of worse plus that was just the usual audience watching Silverstone probably the same audience that watched ocon hit a concrete wall at 51g without a PR trip to the hospital, and there was a heck of a lot more people watching the fixed race at AD.
Infront of the watching world was the 51G ......lewis famous back wheel nudge....
we will see if he sticks to those words once the season starts.
That'll be only one side of the garage working for the team Checo, you must be deluded if you expect any other way.... Maybe you were dropped on your head as a child and now suffer from short term memory loss !!
Fair play, i was a little unkind with that comment, i wrote it as a throwaway tongue in cheek comment, obviously it didn't come across as that, i stand humble and corrected, thankyou for pointing my error?
I don't understand comments like this. By all accounts, Checo is a good guy. And a good driver. Any driver finding himself number two behind Verstappen would face an almost impossible assignment. That he's handling it as well as he has is a testament to his character. I just don't understand the criticism.
