Sergio Perez will face a challenge at the
Italian Grand Prix: he will have to find a way forward from P13. Meanwhile, he is still uncomfortable in
Red Bull Racing's RB18, but Perez is confident he can close the gap on Sunday.
Perez not happy with RB18
Speaking to
Viaplay, Perez said he was not at all happy with the pace of qualifying. The Mexican managed the fourth fastest time, just a second behind pole-sitter
Charles Leclerc. Moreover,
Red Bull Racing's main focus has been on setting up for the race, so the pace may be better on Sunday.
"It's still a good result today and we can fight for it tomorrow. With the race pace we have we can close the gap, so I'm looking forward to it," began Perez, for whom the
Ferrari's speed "didn't really come as a surprise.
"I think they will be strong in the race as well," he added in a press release by Red Bull Racing.
Perez noted that he lacks speed and admitted that he still feels less comfortable in the RB18 than before. "Lacking a bit of confidence and having to think too much in qualifying, it creates a bigger delta," said the Mexican.
