The top teams now know which drivers will be driving for them next year. The 'best' seats that may still be available are at
Racing Point Point and there have been rumours around that team for months now.
Sergio Perez says he doesn't care about that though.
According to many of these rumours, he would have to clear the field when four-time world champion
Sebastian Vettel joins the team. Exclusion or confirmation of this is welcome for the time being, but Perez tells
Autosport.com and others that he is still confident that he will stay with the team in 2021.
"I think it is, as I've said before, a matter of time. I feel really happy in the team. I believe in the project, I've been here for a while, and I can see how the team is going upwards. We all feel internally that everything is working well. We don't see the reason why we should change anything. I don't see any reason to change."
Perez did get an offer from another F1 team.
When it became known that
Racing Point and Vettel were interested in each other, Perez had already been approached by another F1 team and has also had offers outside of
Formula 1. However, the Mexican himself makes it clear that he prefers to stay with his current employer and not talk to other teams.
"No. The feedback that I get from within the team is that we all want to continue. It's a situation that is out of my hands, so I don't even bother at all. I focus on racing."
