Formula 1 is rather predictable this season and
Sergio Perez has insisted all the fans want to see is
"a good show" as the midfield prepare to break the monopoly of the top three in the second half of the season.
This season,
Mercedes,
Ferrari and
Red Bull have been streaks ahead of the rest of the field, with only three drivers winning a race this season.
Lewis Hamilton has won eight races, whilst
Max Verstappen and
Valtteri Bottas have two apiece.
You have to go all the way back to the 2013
Australian Grand Prix for the last time a driver from a team outside the current top three won a race, when
Kimi Raikkonen won in Melbourne for Lotus.
With the weight of cars a topic for debate for the 2021 rule changes, Perez feels the fans don't care about the weight as long as fans get some good racing.
“Definitely they are on the heavy side. Especially when you start the race with 100 kilos [of fuel] they can be a bit too heavy," he said as quoted by
Racefans.
“But as I say I’ve been doing this for the last nine years with this level of cars. I think all the issue comes down to the show that we are able to put.
“What we want to see as spectators [is] a good show. I don’t think they’re too concerned if that’s with five kilos or 100 kilos. The important thing is that we put together a competitive field."
