Oscar Piastri is due to report to the stewards at 20:00 local time. The Australian allegedly obstructed
Pierre Gasly and could potentially receive a grid penalty for doing so.
The Australian had a very good session in qualifying. In the third free practice, the rookie was already third behind teammate
Lando Norris, and in qualifying too, the
McLaren driver put his car on P3 behind
Max Verstappen and
Charles Leclerc.
After qualifying, the
FIA released the news that Piastri will have to report to the stewards. Gasly had to get off the gas through the fast Turn 4 as the slow-moving Australian's
McLaren got in the way. So whether Piastri's time and third starting spot will stand remains to be seen.
Updated 20:35 PM local time
The stewards have now decided that no further action will be taken against
Oscar Piastri. The Australian will start the Grand Prix on Sunday from 3rd place.
