Oscar Piastri has revealed in passing that he won his first Formula 1 race, the Hungarian Grand Prix, with a broken rib.
In a post on Instagram, Piastri lists a number of things he did for the first time. In it, he not only names his first F1 win, but also that he broke a bone for the first time. The McLaren driver adds that his rib is "happy with the summer break".
Moreover, he shared a picture dated 8 July 2024 - the Monday after the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. That is just under two weeks before he secured his first victory at the Hungaroring. So Piastri is still recovering during the double-header before the summer break. After his victory in Hungary, the 23-year-old Australian added a second-place finish to his record at Spa-Francorchamps.
