Alex Albon has admitted that the
Pirelli test day helped him to adjust easier to the
Aston Martin Red Bull Racing car after a positive result at the Japanese Grand Prix. Albon came through in fourth in Japan, a career-best which saw him finish just off of the podium.
Albon only joined
Red Bull Racing midway through the season, swapping with
Pierre Gasly who moved to
Toro Rosso.
“I’m starting to feel a bit more comfortable in the car now and even just doing the Pirelli test that I did on Monday helps with that so just more mileage in the car is always good for me. I just felt more comfortable in the car from FP1 [itself], " as quoted by https://formularapida.net.
“And also gave the car a bit more under me and it felt like I could do what I wanted. As soon as you get confident, that’s where the lap time is and I just felt really confident at a track where you need it, so it was a good Suzuka weekend."
The Thai driver is eighth in the drivers' standings currently, although he is just 12 points shy of
Carlos Sainz who is in sixth.
