After qualifying for the
Japanese Grand Prix, it is again time to see how the teammates compare. With
Red Bull Racing and
Ferrari, it has been clear for some time who is leading the duels between them, but with Mercedes, a striking difference has been seen since the first half of the season.
Striking difference at Mercedes
Max Verstappen extends his lead over
Sergio Perez and
Charles Leclerc also scores another point over
Carlos Sainz. More striking, however, is the difference between the Mercedes drivers, which seems to be increasingly falling to
Lewis Hamilton's side over the course of the season. The 37-year-old Briton is running further ahead of his younger teammate and is slowly gaining the upper hand in the mutual qualifying duel.
Alpine is keeping it exciting: Fernando Alonso is slightly ahead of
Esteban Ocon, but it is only about two points. Meanwhile, Yuki Tsunoda narrowed the gap to
Pierre Gasly at his home race: the Japanese qualified ahead of his teammate for the seventh time this season.
