Kimi Raikkonen thinks the Monaco circuit will suit the Ferrari car as they go back into catch up mode against Mercedes. Ferrari is now 27 points behind Mercedes in the Constructors championship.
The fighting talk has begun. Ferrari needs to rebuild the foundations, similar to what Mercedes have done, to prevent the German team from running away.
Monaco’s heavy braking, traction zones and low-speed nimbleness are aspects that are likely to play into the Italian team's hands. The hypersoft will also make their debut at this Grand Prix adding another likely advantage in just over a weeks time.
Kimi went on to admit these things, seemingly fairly optimistic about the Monaco race.
“We got a fair beating, but we are changing so many things going into Monaco: the track, the tyres, it might be that we may be able to turn it around,” Kimi said.
“Going to Monaco, I am fairly optimistic and we should be in good shape. But then you need to see when you get there because the track is so unique so we will see. Hopefully, it’s a nice surprise.”
The Fin has retired from two races in 2018. These are the only races he hasn’t appeared on the podium. It’s been a steady start for the steady man!
