Emerson Fittipaldi saw in
Imola that
Red Bull Racing has made a big step forward and is mechanically superior to
Ferrari. Nevertheless, the two-time world champion thinks
Ferrari still has the best papers.
After three races in which Ferrari seemingly had a better car than Red Bull with the F1-75, the RB18 was extremely dominant in
Imola.
Max Verstappen took pole, victory in the sprint race and main race and a point for the fastest lap. In addition,
Sergio Perez also showed the power of the RB18 by finishing second.
Red Bull runs in
''They (Red Bull) seemed to be slightly better than Ferrari. On the mechanical side, there has been an improvement. They have more downforce now, because when tires started to wear out, Max was very fast. So he can keep those tires whole much longer than the Ferrari's,'' Fittipaldi says to
VegasInsider.
''I think Red Bull is superior now (in terms of grip) and that's going to make them much more consistent with the tires than Ferrari. That will be very important this year.'' Still, Fittipaldi maintains his opinion that Ferrari has the best chance of winning the world title, although he is very curious to see how the ratios will develop.
