Despite Ricciardo running wide and hitting the wall, Red Bull will look positively at this mornings practice session. Verstappen finished 1 second off the pace but this was on the medium tyre that was 17 laps old.
Christian Horner has said, "if it's not one, it's the other" in his first comments following Ricciardo's crash in FP1. He crashed just after the half-hour mark ending his session. He'll be back out this afternoon.
Ricciardo was running with the old wing and his boss was quick to confirm this. "He's a lucky boy," said Horner.
Despite this, Verstappen finished the session well for Red Bull. He managed to split the Ferrari drivers finishing 4th. He was only 0.200 from World Champion and Baku's race winner Lewis Hamilton.
He set his fastest lap on medium tyres that were 17 laps old. This was in comparison to the soft tyres that Bottas drove with. Red Bull will be happy to achieve this feat.
Christian Horner went on to confirm their engine deadline "won't be in May - our earliest will be in June."
