Sergio Perez made a costly mistake during qualifying for the
Monaco Grand Prix. Already in Q1, he hit the wall with his RB19, which means he will start the race last.
Red Bull Racing replaced a lot of parts on the Mexican's car ahead of the start.
Red Bull replaces many parts at Perez
A disillusioned Perez expressed regret to Red Bull after qualifying, stating that he is likely to lose many points to
Max Verstappen in the
Formula 1 championship. He faces a tough task from the last starting position and will want to limit the damage as much as possible.
Meanwhile, the
FIA has announced which parts have all been replaced on Perez's Red Bull car. There are quite a few: the suspension and steering column, for example, have been worked hard on, but the gearbox has also been worked on. No new gearbox will be used, so the change of these parts will have no effect on possible grid penalties later in the season.
