Renault have failed to perform how they would have wanted this season. They finished the 2018 season 'best of the rest' but have lost that place to
McLaren this season. Team boss
Cyril Abiteboul hopes that Renault can end the season well with a strong result in Abu Dhabi.
“The last race of the season, therefore, marks the moment to look back on that difficult season. We have seen highlights, with the double point finish in Italy, as well as the strong results in Mexico, America and Brazil," Abiteboul said.
“But we also had a disappointing start to the season, characterized by many attempts. We had to go far to find a solution."
Renault are hoping that they can end the season well at the
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
“In the last round of the World Cup here in Abu Dhabi, the pressure is still full. Fifth place is within reach of the constructors, but competition is considerable. We have faith in our skills to ensure a good result, but we also know that the field is close together."
This weekend's race will be Nico Hulkenberg's last
Formula 1 race with Renault and will be hoping for a strong departing result.
“We say goodbye to Nico after three seasons. His contribution has been indispensable in rebuilding the team and the progress made. He has played an important role in the journey Renault has made and we would like to conclude our cooperation with the best possible result."
Renault will be battling with Toro Rosso for fifth place in the constructor's championship and will hope to come out on top.
