Renault are wishing for new driver Daniel Ricciardo to have a similar sort of impact that Lewis Hamilton had when he arrived at Mercedes.
Renault's Cyril Abiteboul says that he hopes Ricciardo's arrival at Renault next season can spark a period of success with the French side, similar to what happened when Hamilton made his way to Mercedes from McLaren in 2013.
Ricciardo shocked the sport when he announced that he would be leaving Red Bull at the end of the season and switching alliances to Renault.
Prior to Hamilton's arrival in 2013, Mercedes showed few signs of the dominance that has taken place since the Brit has been in their seat, and that's what Abiteboul is hoping for, when Renault get their Australian man.
"I genuinely believe there was a good reason for him and for us that happening now and this point in his and our journey," Abiteboul said to Sky Sports F1. "But it's not something we are taking lightly we know this is a big decision.
"I think he has in mind some good examples in the past. Lewis Hamilton, everyone is obviously trying to draw some comparison.
"I hope and believe there will be that comparison and the next reference will be Renault and Daniel in the future in the history books."
