Renault boss Cyril Abiteboul has taken confidence from the reliability the RS18 and all other Renault-powered cars showed in Australia after the French power units struggled to keep its cars on the track in the latter stages of last season.
All six Renault-powered cars finished, and all six finished in the points too, led by Daniel Ricciardo in his Red Bull in fourth. Abiteboul was happy with that, as well as seeing both cars of the Renault team finish in the points.
"We did not have any reliability issues in Renault Sport Formula One Team, nor our two partner teams," Abiteboul smiled.
"The performance of the team was more or less where we expected and hoped for the first race."
"Ultimately the result was good; the first time that we have had both cars in the top ten since our return, and the first time in the history of Renault that six Renault-powered cars have finished in the points."
"It confirms that as a team we're moving in the right decision."
This weekend there won't be any action, but Abiteboul will be hoping for a trouble-free weekend again in Bahrain next week.
"Bahrain is the second race of the year and we need another trouble-free weekend, especially as we enter a double-header far away from our European base."
