Renault have suggested Red Bull could miss engine offer should they wait until the Austrian Grand Prix to decide between the French team and Honda.
Red Bull wanted to use data from Honda and Renault engines in Canada and France after both teams installed engine upgrades. But in an interview with motorsport.com, Cyril Abiteboul firmly warns Red Bull.
“I guess they have all the information they [Red Bull] need now. I don’t see why they are going to further delay the decision,” Abiteboul said.
“As per the regulations [the deadline] was May 15, and then we accepted to extend that a little bit on the back of 12 years of good collaboration.
“But past a certain point, the offer we made, and that they requested, will not stand. It was Montreal that they wanted to wait for: our new spec, Honda’s new spec.”
Engine development and information will be behind whoever Red Bull decide to go with.  A poll ran on GPBlog resulted in 64% saying Honda will supply Red Bull’s 2019 engine, whilst 36% said, Renault.
