Daniel Ricciardo believes he raised the bar with overtaking during his 2014 campaign. In his first season with Red Bull, Ricciardo set the field alight winning three races and finishing 3rd in the championship.
His overtaking skills in battles with team-mate Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso impressed many. The Australian still remembers these fights as he looks back on his time with Red Bull ahead of his final race.
"That's the year I look back at being the most fun for me and the most important for my career since," Ricciardo said as he looked back in his scrapbook!
"The wins were big, and I had a massive battle with Fernando in Germany where we raced really hard but fair, and he had some praise for me afterwards which was big at the time," he said in his Red Bull preview.
"I feel '14 didn't just shape me and my approach from then on, it changed the level of overtaking from other guys in the sport as well."
Ricciardo has always finished above Max Verstappen in the three years they've been racing together. 2018 will be different as Verstappen is too far ahead in the championship to go any higher. The battle between Renault and Red Bull next season will surely be interesting!
