Daniel Ricciardo punched a hole in the wall on Sunday. That's how bad his frustrations are getting due to the reoccurring retirements. And it's no surprise. Often, his RB14 has broken down with an engine issue. While his former team won't be racing with this engine next season, Ricciardo will be. The Australian is confident any such issues will be ironed out in the new car.
"19 is a new car, and it's going to be a fresh start again, so I'm not spending too much energy on that at the moment," Ricciardo said in an interview on pitpass.
The 29-year-old made a shock announcement during the summer break. His change into Renault overalls will be well documented.
He insists he's going to try and help his
French team develope the engine as he looks to make a fresh start as he moves towards his peak driving years.
"Once my year's done, all I can do is try to be fully immersed into it all and try to help as much as I can and see how things go from there," Ricciardo added.
"When I signed, I knew that there was work ahead, but I know that they're putting a lot of effort into making things better and expanding a lot of departments and trying to make '19 stronger and '20."
