Red Bull had high expectations this weekend in Spain as the team made some significant upgrades to the RB14, but they didn't come further than the classic P5 and P6, and Ricciardo has said that this was all they could do in the RB14.
It's disappointing in a way, but Ricciardo does think it's a good sign that he and Max Verstappen are so close to each other.
"I think everyone on the team hoped for more, or at least more than our traditional P5 and P6," he said.
"Me and Max were very close to each other though, so our times are a good representation in that sense.
"Honestly, I don't think we could've done much more."
The Aussie is most bothered by the fact that there wasn't one issue that ruined qualifying, but that it was an overall lack of performance.
"If it was a sector or a corner where we lost a lot, that would be less frustrating, but that's not the case.
"Now, we have to make sure that we finish with more than P5 and P6."
