Daniel Ricciardo's difficult start to life as a
McLaren driver continued in qualifying for the
Azerbaijan Grand Prix as he crashed in Q2 and failed to make it into Q3 for the third time this season. He was one of five drivers who crashed at turn 15 during qualifying in Baku, and after being lapped by teammate
Lando Norris in Monaco, this is far from what Ricciardo needed.
Speaking to SkySports after qualifying, Ricciardo revealed the reasons for his crash. "I just tried to get bit more out of it in the braking and locked pretty early on. Such a short apex there and once you have committed to the turn-in.
As soon as I turned in and saw it locked.. I was pretty pessimistic that I would get through but it's fine margins around here. It's still a bit tricky but obviously disappointed not to have done... gotten further up there."
Looking forward to Sunday
Riccirado is simply determined to get his head down and "move on for tomorrow and comeback and fight."
