Immediately after the summer break, the Formula 1 drivers are already on a killing schedule. Last weekend they raced at Spa, this weekend a few hundred kilometres away at Zandvoort. With Italy coming up the following week, Daniel Ricciardo felt he needed a break.
The Australian has been in the Netherlands for several days. “I’ve spent the last couple of days in Amsterdam resetting, eating stroopwafels, and looking at how we can improve for the coming weekend", he said in a McLaren press release. "Last weekend was not what we wanted it to be, but we’ve bounced back before so we can definitely do the same this time around."
Ricciardo says his team has learned from Spa, where he himself finished fifteenth. He hopes to use this knowledge to improve his performance at Zandvoort and take on Alpine. McLaren and the French team are in a battle for fourth place in the Constructors' Championship.
In any case, Ricciardo, who left McLaren, is looking forward to the race. "It’s an awesome circuit and has such a fun, almost festival-like atmosphere which is great for your mood going into the weekend. It’s more of an old-school circuit with interesting features like Tarzan and the ability to overtake there, so I’m excited to get on track and see how different it is from last year in the new cars."
