The battle between
Red Bull Racing and
Mercedes truly erupted last weekend. Whereas
Lewis Hamilton has consistently held first place in the world championship in recent years,
Max Verstappen is on top after the
Monaco Grand Prix.
Nico Rosberg predicts that the battle will only get fiercer.
Hamilton's former teammate at Mercedes sees both teams trying to fight each other both on and off the track. "I think Wolff doesn't like
Christian Horner very much, because he doesn't always talk about Christian in a sympathetic way," Rosberg stated to
Sky Italia. The driver therefore expects the fight between Mercedes and Red Bull to get bigger.
"It's really going to be quite a tug-of-war if Mercedes protests against Red Bull's flexible rear wing. Wolff has already said he intends to do so, so that could happen next race in Baku. It could even be that this game starts before the start of the GP in Baku and then things will really start moving. This issue is really something that is on the minds of the whole of Formula 1." Mercedes vs. Red Bull
Not only did Mercedes lose first place to Hamilton last weekend, but in the constructors' championship the team has to leave Red Bull ahead for now. The Austrian racing stable is just one point ahead of Mercedes.
