Daniel Ricciardo's podium finish at the
Eifel Grand Prix marked the upward trend seen at
Renault. Since the Belgian Grand Prix, the French team have found their way up and points have been scored every race.
Nico Rosberg also sees this upward trend at
Renault.
Breakthrough at Renault
Renault did particularly well on circuits where the downforce is less important, such as Monza or Spa-Francorchamps, but now the team are also doing well on other circuits. According to Rosberg, this is mainly due to the Renault's improved rear and diffuser.
"I have heard that they have had a breakthrough in the wind tunnel, at the rear near the diffuser", the German says on
Motorsport.com.
The modifications at the rear of the Renault have resulted in much more downforce. "As a result, the team now has more aerodynamic options. They have made great strides and improved their grip significantly," Rosberg says.
Confidence in the car

Daniel Ricciardo also said he was very happy with the progress at Renault.
"Last year I had the feeling that we could sometimes drive very fast or far out of the top ten. I think we are now just able to be on the right side. The car feels good and strong. It certainly gives us a lot of confidence", the Australian said. At the moment Renault is fifth in the constructors' championship, but third place seems to be a serious option for the French.
