George Russell is not convinced that he can compete with his Williams at Silverstone as strongly as he did in Hungary, where he drove a reasonable race despite his eighteenth place.

"I'm not sure," says Russell to Crash.net when asked if he's looking forward to two races in his homeland. "I think on paper Hungary is the circuit that suits us best and where our car can deliver the most, as we showed in qualifying. In England we will have to compete with the Alfa Romeo's and the Haas cars to get a place in Q2".

Speed not optimal

According to Russell, the speed of his car is not optimal. "We've had two good qualifiers, but we just lacked speed during the races. Last year that was not the case. At that time the race speed was much higher than the pace in qualifying." Although Russell doubts if he and his team can achieve results in England, he is looking forward to racing in his own country. "I'm certainly looking forward to that. In between races I stay at home. But it's a pity there are no fans. That was the highlight of last season for me."

Kills me to see Williams struggling like this. Small steps and improvements are great but these improvements must be from race to race. A strong Q2 from both drives will be important and let's hope these aerodynamic upgrades will improve race pace. Encouraging start so far but I hope Williams improves race by race. I love Williams and so badly want them to be competing towards the top of the midpack by end of season. Sky's the limit
Let's go Williams
