Carlos Sainz Jr. believes his old Toro Rosso team-mate Daniil Kyvat will make a return to the sport soon...
The 'silly season' looks to sorta be coming to an end... with mass amount of transfers/rumours happening; that it's actually quite hard to keep on top of!
Toro Rosso have definitely one vacant seat for 2019 and it looks likely that both seats could be available for other drivers.
Pierre Gasly has been promoted up the Red Bull ranks and will be driving alongside Max Verstappen next season, and Brendon Hartley's poor form this season has been far from convincing the Toro Rosso hierarchy.
Kyvat has history with Toro Rosso as the Russian driver left the Red Bull junior side at the end of the 2017 season following a bad season with the side.
The former Toro Rosso man shared a team with Renault's Sainz, who is joining McLaren next season and the Spaniard believes his old friend will make a return to the sport sooner or later.
"I have a personal feeling with Kyvat, because I think Dany is one of the most talented riders I've ever competed against. I have a feeling he will come back some day," the soon-to-be McLaren man told Motorsport.
"I told my manager and my father: 'I have a feeling that this boy is not finished, that he will come back'."
Kyvat looks quite likely to replace Gasly at Toro Rosso, with the other candidates perhaps lacking the experience they want, and what Kyvat has, with already having knowledge of driving in F1.
"He seems to have a good chance and I would be very happy for him, if he made a return," Sainz concluded.
