Carlos Sainz has left
McLaren for
Ferrari after two years. The Spaniard is now racing for his fourth team in
Formula 1. Is this the right choice?
Sainz was in a dip after his season with Renault, where he had not really impressed in one year. Renault dropped him and Red Bull also didn't really need the Spaniard anymore. At
McLaren, he got that trust and it paid off. Sainz scored many points for McLaren and even finished on the podium a couple of times.
Sainz onwards again
''I thought I would have a long association with McLaren and I enjoyed my time with the team. In the second year, you could already see the improvement compared to the first year, so you can see what stability can do for a driver. If you stay longer with a team it helps to improve your performance'', Sainz told
Crash.net.
Yet Sainz has left McLaren for an adventure at
Ferrari, where things are normally anything but calm and stable.
''It's my goal to have a long partnership with Ferrari and that's also why I signed a two-year deal. I like that. At Renault I did not know what was going to happen," concludes the Spaniard about his most difficult year in F1.
