Carlos Sainz is not satisfied with himself after the
Singapore Grand Prix. The Spaniard balks that he could not put pressure on the leaders and will start thoroughly evaluating.
Disgruntled Sainz
Sainz was unable to compete for victory on Sunday. The
Ferrari driver started from fourth place in a promising position, but Carlos was more concerned with holding off
Lewis Hamilton than looking forward. Sainz bitterly regrets his own performance.
''I cannot be happy because I wish I could have put some pressure together with Charles and Checo and we could have been both up there to play a bit with Checo but today I simply didn't have the pace and it's something that I need to look at. That's why I'm not happy at all, because it's normally the conditions where I normally am quite quick and normally execute good races," said the 28-year-old driver at the
FIA press conference.
No risk in Singapore
At the wet
Marina Bay Street Circuit, Sainz chose eggs for his money at one point when
Charles Leclerc and
Sergio Perez were out of sight.
"At some point I had to settle a bit because it was not worth taking any risks because I was P3 with ten seconds behind and ten seconds in front and at that point you have to bring also the P3 for the team, no, instead of pushing a bit too much and making a mistake."Sainz also falls back in the championship due to his performance in Singapore. He is now fifth in the drivers' standings with 202 points. Trailing
Charles Leclerc and
Sergio Perez are 35 and 33 points respectively.
George Russell also still has one point more than the Spaniard.
