The Japanese Grand Prix weekend will be a weekend for Carlos Sainz after he received a fine on Sunday in Suzuka.

On Saturday after qualifying, the Spaniard received a three-place grid penalty for impeadin Lewis Hamilton, dropping him down from P12 to P15, only moving up one spot in the Grand Prix to take 14th place.

After the Grand Prix, the stewards looked into an incident before the race, as Sainz was late for the Japanese national anthem, with all the drivers lining up at the front of the grid, along with FIA officials, to thank and respect the race weekend hosts

The Williams driver was late for the start of the national anthem, and as a result, a fine headed his way. Sainz received a fine of €20,000, of which €10,000 is conditional for twelve months.

However, with Sainz being treated for stomach issues before the Grand Prix got underway, the fine dropped from 60,000 euros to 20,000, with the FIA still punishing the Spaniard and his team.
