Mclaren drivers
Carlos Sainz and
Lando Norris are happy with the return of the gravel traps to the
Spa-Francorchamps circuit, they told
Racefans.net. The two current drivers from
McLaren are happy with the decision to reinstall gravel traps on the Spa circuit, instead of the asphalt that is there now.
“Welcome back gravel and pray for more gravel in the future,” Sainz jokes. Returning the gravel traps, he explains, is
“exactly what I think we all need to do to make the circuits nice and spectacular again,” as it more strongly encourages drivers to stay within track limits.
“More and more tracks are being used by motorbikes which is the reason we can’t have gravel as much,” Norris explains. The planned changes to
Spa-Francorchamps are set to cost around 80 million euros.
