It has finally been announced where Carlos Sainz will race in 2025. After months of speculation and many talks with multiple teams, the Spaniard has officially announced his switch to Williams next season. Meanwhile, Sainz himself has also commented on his switch.
“I am very happy to announce that I will be joining Williams Racing from 2025 onwards. It is no secret that this year’s driver market has been exceptionally complex for various reasons and that it has taken me some time to announce my decision. However, I am fully confident that Williams is the right place for me to continue my F1 journey and I am extremely proud of joining such a historic and successful team, where many of my childhood heroes drove in the past and made their mark on our sport," Sainz revealed.
"The ultimate goal of bringing Williams back to where it belongs, at the front of the grid, is a challenge that I embrace with excitement and positivity. I am convinced that this team has all the right ingredients to make history again and starting on January 1 I will give my absolute best to drive Williams forward alongside every single member of the team," Sainz added.
Sainz has signed for two seasons with a view to 2026, when the entire regulations will be shaken up. The 29-year-old Sainz will become Alexander Albon's teammate there.

I still didn't get why Sainz didn't move to Audi? Audi seems better choice than Williams
Actually, from the tone of his official press statement, Williams is not his first choice. He was aiming for the Merecedes seat, but had to eventually settle for the best of the remaining offers that he has got, when he realises that Toto will be signing Antonelli to be Russell's team mate for next year. I did mention before when Piastri joined McLaren, that he will be giving Lando a good fight. I am now predicting that Antonelli will also be giving Russell a hard time .... after the first few races in 2025, for Kimi to get used to the Mercedes then we will see what a generational talent, since Max, can do in an F1 car in the next few years.
Not sure if he's a generational talent. He's not impressing that much in F2, there are a few flashes of brilliance but nothing consistent but my guess is that he'll improve massively
"generational talent"? ? How could he be such a talent if he still didn't show anything extraordinary in F2?? Yeah, it's his first season, but there were drivers won F2 championship in their first season...and so what about Bortoleto or Aron? So it seems they are way better talents because it's also first season in F2 for them and they completely overperformed Antonelli
No driver ever has won every single seater championship that he has participated in and has earned 70 super licence points at 17 years old! As for F2 this year, put Max in Williams or VCARB today and he still won't win the title but will be good enough to win a few races, which is precisely what Antonelli has so far done and I am sure there will be a few more wins from now till the end of the season. The mere fact that Mercedes will likely be putting Antonelli into a Mercedes but has dropped Aaron from their junior programme shows the true talent level between the two drivers, despite current F2 performance, plus the fact that the Kimi is totally dominating the only current F2 driver that team principals feels is good enough for an F1 seat, says all that needs to be known of the next most talented driver that will be in F1 soon, since Max, 9 years ago. Charles, George, Lando and Oscar came close but Kimi is another level on these 4 drivers.
