The
Williams team will receive a €5,000 fine from the
FIA. Just now, the
FIA announced that
Logan Sargeant got in
Lance Stroll' s way during qualifying, but according to the stewards, the American was not at fault. Instead, his team will be fined.
In the first part of qualifying,
Lance Stroll was held up by
Williams driver
Logan Sargeant. The two collided at turn eight, after which the stewards intervened. Sargeant had to report to the stewards after the session and they just revealed their decision.
Fine for Williams, reprimand for Sargeant
The stewards ruled that Stroll was indeed hindered, but after analysing the data and conversations over board radio, it was concluded that Sargeant could do nothing about it. The American driver therefore gets off with a warning. The Williams team is being held responsible by the stewards, partly due to a lack of communication to their driver. The FIA is fining the British team €5,000.
